Do you dream of a bedroom with the same relaxing, refined and luxurious atmosphere as a five-star hotel suite? It can be done – and surprisingly easily and affordably. The key is in the details, cleanliness and the right choices.
We've put together 7 tips recommended by professionals to help you transform your ordinary bedroom into the heart of your home – a place where you sleep better, relax, and feel like you're on a luxury vacation in a fancy hotel.

1. Choose a high-quality hotel bed and an impressive headboard
The bed is the crowning glory of a hotel room – and at home too. Hotel beds are characterized by their high and large size, a sturdy but comfortable structure, and a clear-cut and striking headboard that anchors the entire space.
The look and feel of a bed set communicates comfort and quality at first glance. Choose a bed with a clear and sturdy design, as well as a striking headboard that gives the sleeping area a hotel-like frame. Make sure that the tone of the bed and headboard fits harmoniously into the overall look, avoid flashy colors.
A headboard doesn’t have to be ornate — what matters is its size and finish. A tall, wide, and upholstered headboard adds visual quality to a room and makes the space look finished. Pair it with stylish bedside tables and understated nightlights, and a premium feel is guaranteed.

2. Invest in quality sheets
How do hotel sheets feel? Cool, smooth, and soft. They don't wrinkle easily and always look polished. You can achieve this feel at home by choosing crisp, high-quality sheets made from hotel-favored materials like cotton sateen, Pima cotton, or a blend.
White always works classic, with or without stripes, but other light and harmonious shades, such as greige, sand and light gray, also create a calming whole. Make the bed in layers and use more pillows to create a hotel style.
Duvets are not included in the range of quality hotels, so consider using a duvet. However, if you want to protect the bed, use soft blankets or just half a duvet at the foot of the bed.

3. Blankets and pillows make a difference – choose comfort first
A hotel suite bed always feels luxurious because it is padded with high-quality duvets and pillows. Duvets should be light but warm, breathable and drape beautifully. Many hotels around the world use down, while in Finland microfiber is often preferred because of its allergy-friendly nature.
There can be several pillows: two for sleeping and two for sitting support. Giant pillows add a touch of glamour to the bed, but they also always need good neck support. The balance of softness and support makes the bed both beautiful and practical. In many households, giant pillows have a mainly cosmetic function, but they are also great for reading and watching TV.

4. Subdued tones and harmonious materials
The secret of a hotel suite lies in how well all the elements blend together. Subtle tones such as beige, sand, gray, taupe or soft blue create a calming space for rest and sleep, without compromising their cohesiveness.
Use these tones well: curtains, carpet, bedding, wall surfaces and furniture should all be part of the same harmonious whole. Textures – such as matte cotton, soft wool and smooth satin – can add depth, even if the colors remain neutral.
If you place a rug under the bed, it should extend at least 60-70 cm from both sides of the bed and over the edges from the foot of the bed. A small rug under the bed will drown it, but a large enough rug will bring the space together and visually raise it.
Curtains are another element where proportion is key: they should hang from the ceiling to the floor, not just above the window. Short or too narrow curtains will cut off the impression of space — long, heavy curtains will create peace and poise. If possible, curtains should cover the entire wall area, not just part of it.

5. Minimize visible items – but don’t forget the details
One of the cornerstones of a hotel-like space is minimalism. There are no piles of miscellaneous items, tangled cords, or half-empty water bottles in sight. Instead, every object has its place – and every visible element supports the whole.
Keep your bedside table stylish and clean: a candle, a beautiful drinking glass with a saucer, a thoughtful decorative object or a book on interior design will suffice. A wireless charger or a simple table clock can also be part of the look, if it fits in with the rest of the interior.
If you use paintings, choose one large piece rather than a small collection. A large painting in subdued tones will open up the room and add personality without creating visual clutter.
Choose one contrasting color, and choose your interior and decorative items from that color group. Popular shades include gold, silver, and brown/cognac. These are easy to use to bring a little life and color to an otherwise harmonious and subdued bedroom. For example, decorative pillows, a candle, an interior design book, and a painting in the same color palette will give the bedroom that final touch of a luxury hotel feel.

6. Lighting and scents complete the atmosphere
Good lighting is not only practical — it completes the atmosphere of the space. Hotel style is created by multiple light sources: in addition to ceiling lighting, you need wall or table lamps and possibly indirect light, for example behind the headboard or at the floor level. Avoid just one large light source, lighting should be as indirect as possible.
Use warm white bulbs (2700–3000 K), which make textiles look soft and skin tones look warm. Avoid cold lights, which make the atmosphere clinical.
Scent is an invisible but powerful part of the spatial experience. Use a room freshener, linen spray or scented candle with a gentle, natural scent: white tea, bergamot, sandalwood or pure cotton work great in the bedroom.

7. Complete the look with soft evening wear
You can also wear the hotel-like atmosphere. When you put on a quality bathrobe and soft slippers after a shower, you literally become part of the whole. Comfortable nightwear and evening clothes that are appropriate for the temperature increase comfort and make routines soothing, just like in a luxury hotel.
A bathrobe and slippers can also be part of the interior visually – when hung neatly, they communicate everyday luxury and self-care.

Summary
A hotel-style bedroom is not just about style – it is a space where you can escape from everyday life into a hotel-like holiday atmosphere every night and enjoy peace, quiet and a good night's sleep. By combining high-quality textiles, a harmonious color scheme, thoughtful details and atmospheric lighting, you can make your everyday life more luxurious.
