Measure the bed and wall first
- Measure the bed frame from outer edge to outer edge. The mattress size is not always the same as an upholstered frame's external width.
- Measure the free wall space, allowing for bedside tables, lamps, sockets, curtains and doors.
- Check the headboard's external width and any clear space between its wings.
- Mark the proposed width on the wall with masking tape to judge the proportions before ordering.

The wider sizes are design examples, not standard options for every model. For a centred headboard, the extension on each side is (headboard width − bed width) ÷ 2. Choose the final size from the model's available dimensions or request a custom size.

When the headboard extends behind bedside tables

A 180 cm bed, two 40 cm bedside tables and a 5 cm gap on each side of the bed need a total width of 270 cm. Check the installation space and the tables' actual dimensions too.
HB XII is wider than the bed by design. Compare its stated external dimensions rather than relying only on the nominal bed width.
